Break It Into Smaller Tasks

You might not have the time of day to do four straight hours of deep cleaning and, to be honest, not a lot of people would tolerate cleaning for more than an hour at a time. The best practice that you can have to keep your rental apartment in Berthoud clean is to break the bigger tasks into smaller ones.

For example, if it takes you two hours to deep clean the bathroom, you can break the task into two or three days. On the first day, you can clean the toilet, the following day you can focus on cleaning the shower, and on the last day, you can make sure that your sink and floors are squeaky clean! This way you are helping yourself not to get saturated from cleaning all in one day and also making sure you leave the floors for last so you won’t get them dirty while you are cleaning any of the other items.

The same goes for everything else in your home. You’ll get used to spending 30 to 40 minutes for a week every month to make sure that your entire apartment is clean instead of trying to choreograph and orchestrate an entire day that you might not enjoy.

A Helping Hand

If you live with others — whether it’s your partner, your kids, or roommates — when everybody works together you’ll realize how quick and simple cleaning your rental home would be. You can combine the first tip with this one and instead of breaking the task into different days, you assign different portions of a bigger task to all those involved in cleaning and you’ll notice how easy it all becomes.

Having everyone work together to clean will prove to be a benefit in many ways. You’ll take some weight off your shoulders, everyone else will notice and learn how much work it takes to keep things clean around the house, and, ultimately, it feels like everyone is pulling their own weight to avoid stressful confrontation later.

Don’t Leave a Mess for Later

Accidents happen and, more often than not, they are out of our control. It is ok to wait for a second to clean the mess if you are in the middle of something that requires your full attention. However, if you plan to leave the mess as is and not pay attention to it for the next day or two, you will find that things are going to start piling up until the point that small cleaning chores become an intense weekend of cleaning.

Keep Surfaces Clean

Always have a trusty cloth handy. Flat, horizontal surfaces will catch more dust than almost anything else in your home. If you make it a habit to take a few minutes every other day to wipe them down, you’ll notice how everything can look clean for longer.

Cleaning the surfaces often has other benefits other than making them look better. The dust and particles accumulated on the surfaces can be a big trigger for allergies and the last thing that you want to do is to deal all day with the pollen and other allergens outside of your home, only to come back and deal with allergies from the dust in your rental apartment.

Keep Up With the Clutter

Sometimes, the smaller things are the ones that make the bigger mess. Make sure you are constantly putting away whatever you use. Don’t allow a plate to become three and later turn into your sink and kitchen looking like the house has been abandoned for months.

If you have kids, get them used to putting away toys and other things they use in the house. It’s not a pretty sight to get back from work and find out that your home has been turned into a landfill with every item you own being spread around every square inch of your rental apartment.

It’s Laundry Day

It is common for some people to have one or two days a month to do laundry. While this is not a big problem, it can become a cluttering problem.

There are multiple things that take effect in the long run when you do laundry more often. One of them is that you don’t have to spend an entire day doing laundry if you left it all for the last second. Putting your clothes away becomes easier since you are doing smaller batches at a time. You won’t get any weird smells coming from the laundry basket or room.

If you happen to leave your gym clothes in the basket for too long and do this too often, your sportswear might start smelling funky even after washing them due to leaving all the bacteria active for too long in a moist environment.

There are so many things you can do to keep your rental apartment clean without the need to spend a full weekend cleaning it. Organizing yourself and cleaning as things come up without letting the problem amass, can prove to be a great way to keep your home fresh and more enjoyable.
